Preparation of the regenerative cells involves a lipoaspiration or an adipose tissue excision procedure. Tissue excision is used where liposuction is impractical or where excision of abdominal fat is less traumatic than liposuction. The sample is then transferred into the processing tube of the Lipoaspirate or the Tissue Processing System and proprietary Matrase™ enzymatic reagent is added prior insertion into the Processing Unit. During the first run, very efficient enzymatic extracellular degradation liberates the regenerative cells from their surrounding matrix. Subsequent filtering and washing steps allow to easily isolate these cells before their immediate therapeutic application. The process shown below takes 60 minutes for lipoaspirate. For excised tissue the process takes up to 90 minutes.
